Updated Balcony on a Budget
I have been wanting to update my boring balcony. ..I was able to do it for $20! See how!
... just in time for summer!!
So I got lucky picking up these two chairs and table on the side of the street for free!
All stacked up in my car...and they even had the cushions!
Diiirrrtttyyy!
After washing the cushions and wiping down the chairs they were ready to be styled!
They just needed a little love!
Here is the before of my balcony...
eww boring
and I even had this old chair out there
not attractive at all!
So after sweeping and cleaning I put it all together!
Perfect for two!
I got this table mat to give it a little style!
The red really makes all of my beautiful plants pop!
I was able to get some great outdoor pillows for 3$ at Ikea!
Garden of seashells
Its all in the details..My inspiration my beach tote I take with me every time I go to the beach to collect shells..
So what happened to that big UGLY plastic bin!?
Well I needed the storage so I threw a long pillow on top covered it up with some cheap fabric and made a sitting bench!
I accessorized it with a bright lime green outdoor euro Pillow..May I also say the euro pillow fill was on sale at Ikea for $3.99 and the cover was on sale for .99 Cents!!!
Of course who wouldn't want to sit next to my antique dresser and my treasure chest filled of sea shells!
So to TOP IT ALL OFF! I looked up the retail value of the free set table and chairs...
DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!
The Teak Coffee table retails for $429.00
Teak Folding chairs Retail for $530.00 EACH!
I think I scored!
Sorry so blurry...
So with this I leave you with one advice...Never forget to see the beauty in all things...
...One mans junk is another mans treasure...

Star burst Mirror
I have a guilty pleasure of getting lost in Interior design, Fashion and DIY blogs...a month ago I saw a Do it yourself Mirror and I feel in love with it. So I thought I would give it a go! ..What you will need..
1. AaaaaLLooottt of Paint sticks...I went into home depot and lets just say that the paint guys behind the counter think I am crazy...
Depending on your mirror size will determine how many you will use.
I used about 60 paint sticks.
2. A mirror you can pick a nice one up at Micheal's Craft store. I used a 8" Round Mirror.
3. Paint and paint brush of your choice...I chose to mix Gray, white and Black for a specific color.
4. A small hand saw you will use this to cut the sticks to size
5. Hot glue or Super glue (after using hot glue I would stick with Super glue- Less messy (lesson learned)
Supplies
Do a little calculation to make sure that the sticks have an even placement
Measure were you are going to cut your sticks
Repeat this when you cut your shorter sticks as well.
CHOP!
Lay out your sticks to make sure they all fit
Paint paint paint !!
Hot glue sticks into place once paint is dry...I did several coats over several days both shorter and longer sticks
Once longer sticks are placed and glued. Repeat with shorter sticks..I staggered mine in-between for a nice pattern
I waited a couple hours to dry
Once dry ..clean up hot glue (not shown here) I attached one more stick on the back to later attach hardware to hang on the wall

Its Christmas Time!
Now that Thanksgiving is over I didn't waste a minute getting our Christmas tree. Every year my boyfriends family and I all go to Apple hill. Unfortunately this year we were not able to go and yell cutter to get our fresh cut Christmas tree. So this year we went to good-ole Home Depot. We got a 6' Douglas Fir for 20 bucks! Luckily my mom had given me all my favorite vintage ornaments ..so we stalked up on lights and we were good to go! Need I mention we live in a studio so there was not much room for error when it came to getting the perfect size tree..Here is how it turned out! Enjoy!

She Sells Sea Shells By the Sea Shore
When I stare at the ocean, I feel a sense of taunting as if each wave yells at me to come discover its deep mysteries. The shells that I find are small bones that once lived in the deep blue and from places near and far. Each one has a different shape or texture, they are weathered differently and no one shell is the same. Each one has its own personality. Its radiant and dull colors, its rough and smooth, its salty smell are a match made in heaven for the senses..a perfect blind mans treasure map to something beautiful. I collect the ones broken and perfect. Every shell started out brand new, after its life in the ocean it starts a new life when it washes up onto the shore...in my hand it begins its journey on land...
A few shells around my home..

Culture Shock
Born and raised in San Francisco a city full of culture, I naturally crave to explore different parts of cities were I can experience different types of food, celebrations, people and culture. As a new resident to Los Angeles, I decided today to go out an explore some of the best of what the city has to offer! The amazing thing about Los Angeles is that the streets are so intermixed with different cultures. I went to Little Mexico on Olvera Street and found the best taquitos I have ever had! Little Mexico is a great place to go to hear a Mariachi band and explore the colorful gifts the vendors have to offer. Its like taking a vacation to mexico close to home! Over across the blvd you can quickly visit Chinatown, full of its paper lanterns and jade, you can sure find a variety of food and all the lucky charms you will need. Enjoy the photos from todays adventure!!!!
